Bristol Gilbert & Sullivan In our Society we have both performing and non performing members. Rehearsals for performing members take place on Tuesday evenings in Bristol and include an interval to catch up on all the gossip over a cup of tea! Although we rehearse our music and stage moves with a great degree of professionalism, we always have fun too - indeed it's this balance which make the group so successful. Performing members are admitted upon successful audition, however, don't worry if you don't want to sing! There are always plenty of other jobs to do, for example costumes, make-up, scenery etc. Or why not become a 'friend' of our society? This allows you, for a reduced annual subscription, to take part in all our social activities and entitles you to a free ticket for our annual show. Interested? To contact our Secretary Click Here Our Society was originally formed as a musical appreciation society - then in 1962 a performing group was formed and the first production was staged. The Society now concentrates on performance and one G&S opera is staged each year - in addition to which, we perform several charity concerts throughout the season. We are a friendly bunch who come from all walks of life and our ages range from teenage through to retirement! We are extremely committed to what we do but have a huge amount of fun along the way. Indeed our common love of music and drama has created firm friendships between many people whose paths may not otherwise have crossed.
We were delighted to be awarded NODA's "Allan Brooking Cup for Best G&S Production" for our 2009 production of The MIKADO. |
